Agent Interoperation Across Multagent System Boundaries

چکیده
Recently the number of autonomous agents and multiagent systems (MAS) that have been developed by di erent developers has increased. Despite e orts for the creation of standards (eg. in communication languages, registration protocols etc.), it is clear that at least in the near term heterogeneous agents and MASs will be prevalent. Therefore, mechanisms that allow agents and/or MASs to interoperate and transact are needed. In this paper we report on a case study and lessons learned of an interoperator agent we developed. We discuss requirements for interoperation mechanisms, resulting challenges and our design decisions and implementation of the RETSINA-OAA InterOperator.

The ultimate vision of the Semantic Web (SW) is to provide users with the capability of delegating complex tasks to intelligent agents. The latter, acting in an interoperable and information-rich Web environment, will efficiently satisfy their users’ requests in a variety of real-life applications. Much work has been done on SW information agents for Web-based query answering; a variety of mult...
متن کاملA Prototype System for Transnational Information Sharing and Process Coordination
Global problems such as disease detection and control, terrorism, immigration and border control, illicit drug trafficking, etc. require information sharing, coordination and collaboration among government agencies within a country and across national boundaries. This paper presents a prototype of a transnational information system which aims at achieving information sharing, process coordinati...
متن کاملA Distributed and Anonymous Knowledge Sharing Approach to Software Interoperation
The support for automatic interoperation of software components can reduce cost and provide greater functionality. This paper describes a novel approach to software interoperation based on speciication sharing. Software components, called agents, provide machine processable descriptions of their capabilities and needs. Agents can be realized in diierent programming languages, and they can run i...
متن کاملPlanning and Matchmaking for the Interoperation of Information Processing Agents
In today’s open, distributed environments, there is an increasing need for systems to assist the interoperation of tools and information resources. This paper describes a multi-agent system, DALEKS, that supports such activities for the information processing domain. With this system, information processing tasks are accomplished by the use of an agent architecture incorporating task planning a...
متن کاملAgentcities Interaction Using the Opal Platform
The Agentcities network provides an opportunity to test the interoperation of multi-agent systems that are distributed and implemented across a variety of platforms whose only common factor is adherence to the FIPA protocols. In this context we aim to test our agent platform, Opal, which employs some new techniques for agent information exchange that we believe can make agent interaction in het...
